Kawaguchiko is the easiest of the Fuji Five Lakes to reach from Tokyo — about two hours by direct train or bus — and the classic place to see the mountain across the water. The catch: Fuji hides behind cloud most afternoons, so plan around the morning, then warm up with a pot of hoto noodles or a lakeside onsen.
