Who we are

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

What we collect

If you subscribe to our emails, we store your email address, the language you were reading in, the page you subscribed from, and the date and time you gave consent. We ask you to confirm by clicking a link in a confirmation email — your address is not added to our list until you do.

When you read the site, Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) records usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location by country, device type and referring site. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland this is switched off until you allow it; elsewhere it runs by default and you can decline at any time.

When you click a booking link, our server records which article the click came from and which partner it went to. We do not store cookies, IP addresses or any identifier with this record — it is a count, not a profile.

We do not ask for your name, we have no user accounts, and we never handle payment details.

Why we collect it

To send you the emails you asked for, to understand which articles are useful so we can write better ones, and to count how many readers we send to our booking partners. Nothing else.

Who else sees it

We never sell your data, and we never share your email address with anyone for their own marketing.

• Google (Analytics, Tag Manager) — usage data
• Vercel — hosting; standard server logs
• An email service provider — to send our emails. We have not chosen one yet; this page will name it before the first email is sent.
• Booking partners (GetYourGuide and others) — when you click through you are on their site and their privacy policy applies

Where your data goes

We are based in Japan. Our service providers may process data in the United States and the European Union. Where personal data leaves the EEA or the UK we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision. Japan holds an adequacy decision from the European Commission.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on our list until you unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe we keep a record of the unsubscribe itself so we do not email you again by mistake. Analytics data follows Google's retention setting. Server click logs are kept until we set a retention period, which will be stated here.

Your rights

You can unsubscribe from any email with one click, at any time, and you do not need a reason.

You can also ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it — and if you are in the EEA or the UK, to withdraw consent, object to processing, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Write to info@sanpo.travel and we will reply within 30 days.

Children

SANPO is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, tell us and we will delete the record.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant and you are on our list, we will tell you by email before it takes effect.
