There are two ways down to Yokosuka and they land you in different parts of town, so the right one depends on what you came for. Here's how a local picks - and why I almost always take the Keikyu.

    The options

    • Keikyu line from Shinagawa: fastest and cheapest - take a 'Limited Express' (快特) to Yokosuka-chuo, the station for Dobuita Street and the navy town centre
    • JR Yokosuka line from Tokyo/Shinagawa: slower, drops at JR Yokosuka station near Verny Park and the Mikasa side
    • For Mikasa & the ferry: Keikyu Shioiri or JR Yokosuka are both a short walk
    • No transfers needed on the Keikyu limited express - it's a single direct ride

    Local tip

Don't overthink tickets - just tap an IC card (Suica/PASMO) through the gates. The Keikyu limited express is the one to wait for; the all-stations local train adds 15-20 minutes for the same fare. Fares and times are estimates - check a transit app on the day.
