Kamakura is the easiest deep-local day trip from Tokyo — about an hour out, and walkable once you arrive. The single thing that separates a great day from a frustrating one is leaving early. Be at the Great Buddha and Komachi-dori before the late-morning rush and the whole town opens up.

    1

    Morning — Komachi-dori & Tsurugaoka Hachimangu

    Stay 90 min

Start at Kamakura Station, walk Komachi-dori while the shops are still calm, and finish at the broad shrine approach of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu.

Local tip: The parallel lane one block east of Komachi-dori has the same shops with a third of the people.
Enoden train · Kamakura → Hase, ~4 min
    2

    Midday — Hase-dera & the Great Buddha

    Stay 110 min

Take the Enoden to Hase for the sea-view temple garden, then the short walk to the Great Buddha. Grab a shirasu (whitebait) bowl near Hase for lunch.

Local tip: Hydrangea season (June) is gorgeous but slow — go to Hase-dera at opening or you'll queue on the path.
Walk 6 min between the two

    Afternoon — beach or Enoshima

    Stay 120 min

With time left, ride the Enoden along the coast to Enoshima for the island shrine and a sunset, or simply sit on Yuigahama beach as the day-trippers thin out.

Local tip: If it's a clear afternoon, stay for sunset at Enoshima — then head home ahead of the crowd.

Roughly ¥2,500–4,000 with trains, a couple of temple entries and snacks — more if you add an experience or lunch out.

Yes. They're about 10 minutes apart on the Enoden. Do Kamakura's temples in the morning and Enoshima for the afternoon and sunset.
